This is probably going to get quoted in every publication just because I said it. And I’m not even saying anything. I’m not talking about my films, I’m not talking about my life, and I’m not talking about the world. And yet, the media will print it simply because I said it. Indonesia Pengguna Twitter Terbesar Kelima Dunia
TEMPO.CO, Paris — Bila ada yang mempertanyakan mengapa kata kunci yang berasal dari Indonesia kerap masuk dalamTrending Topic secara global, mungkin hasil riset berikut ini akan menjawab rasa penasaran Anda.
Berdasarkan penelitian Semiocast, lembaga riset media sosial yang berpusat di Paris, Prancis, ternyata jumlah pemilik akun Twitter di negara ini merupakan yang terbesar kelima di dunia.
Indonesia berada di posisi kelima dengan jumlah akun 19,5 juta, setelah disalip oleh Inggris Raya yang berhasil berada di posisi keempat dengan 23,8 juta akun. Sementara itu, posisi satu ditempati Amerika Serikat dengan 107,7 juta, posisi kedua diraih Brasil dengan 33,3 juta, dan Jepang di posisi ketiga dengan 29,9 juta akun.
Dikutip dari PC Mag, Kamis, 2 Februari 2012, hasil riset ini dilakukan terhadap 383 juta akun yang dibuat sebelum tahun 2012, dengan memperhitungkan kriteria seperti lokasi yang disebutkan dalam profil, zona waktu, bahasa yang digunakan saat mengirim tweet, serta lokasi GPS.
Selain dari segi jumlah akun, pengguna Twitter di Indonesia juga lebih aktif dari rata-rata pengguna lain di dunia. Selama 1 September hingga 30 November 2011, hanya 27 persen akun di seluruh dunia yang ‘nge-tweet’setidaknya satu kali dalam periode ini, sementara di Indonesia mencapai 28 persen.
Sayangnya, lembaga ini tidak mengukur persentase ‘sumbangan’ satu negara terhadap keseluruhan tweet yang dikirim per hari. Pada Juni 2010, lembaga ini mengeluarkan hasil risetnya mengenai hal ini dan menemukan bahwa Indonesia berada pada posisi ketiga negara yang paling aktif mengirim tweet, dengan sumbangan 12 persen terhadap seluruh tweetyang dikirim per hari.
Pada November lalu, Semiocast juga mengeluarkan hasil riset yang menyebutkan bahwa tweet berbahasa Melayu menguasai 6,4 persen keseluruhan tweet yang di-posting. Ini menempatkan bahasa Melayu pada urutan kelima bahasa yang paling banyak digunakan untuk ‘nge-tweet’setelah bahasa Inggris, Jepang, Portugis, dan Spanyol.
Negara yang menggunakan bahasa ini adalah Malaysia dan Indonesia, namun Semiocast menggarisbawahi bahwa sebagian besar tweetberbahasa Melayu ini berasal dari Indonesia.
